Essential Qualification for X Group

X Group: The X Group is the technical group of the Indian Air Force. To join this, you must have 10+2 certificate with 50% marks in maths, physics and English subject. Or if you have a 3-year polytechnic diploma certificate, you can still apply for it. 10+2 pass out and appearing students can also apply for this group.

NDA: Joining through National Defense Academy (NDA) become top level officers. For this you should have at least 10+2 degree. Science subject should have both Physics and Maths. In which 60% marks are required. This exam is conducted twice in a year. This exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

  • Age Limit- Minimum 16.5 years to apply and Maximum 19.5 years. Changes are possible according to the application form for the year 2021.

Exam Pattern


It consists of two papers, Maths and General Ability. The exam is of total 900 marks. In this, by selecting any one language, Hindi or English, you can give the exam through it. The exams for both the subjects are of two and a half hours. There is also negative marking for wrong answer. In this, one-third marks are deducted for wrong answer. There are 300 marks for Maths and 600 marks for General Ability. After passing both the exams, the candidate is called for interview by SSB. A total of 270 questions are asked in NDA exam, out of which 120 questions are asked from Maths and 150 questions are asked from General Ability.

Talking about Maths, there are 300 marks in it. Contains Algebra, Trigonometry, Analytical Geometry of Two and Three Dimensions, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus and Differential Equations, Vector Algebra, Statics and Probability.

General Ability– It consists of two sections, A and B. Questions from English are asked in A and they are of 200 marks. In this, questions are asked from Grammar, Usages, Vocabulary etc. Section B consists of questions from General Knowledge, which are of 400 marks. There are questions from many subjects and current affairs like Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History Geography.
