BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) is an integrated Indian degree in medicine. This degree program is given to those students who study modern medicine and traditional Ayurveda.
BAMS is an undergraduate degree program in the old and ancient Ayurvedic system of medicine, in which the body is prevented and treated by increasing the harmony of Kapha, Pitta and Vata”.
This degree is awarded after 5 years and 6 months of completion of degree followed by 4 and 1/2 year academic session and one year internship program with live practical programme.

The BAMS UG degree course is divided into three sections of 1.5 years each. These classes are called three vocational courses.
In the first professional course, students are taught about physiology, physiology and the history of the Ayurvedic system.
In the second course they teach about toxicology and pharmacology and the final course includes surgery, ENT, skin, obstetrics and gynecology.
The entire curriculum covers modern anatomy, principles of medicine, physiology, social and preventive medicine, forensic medicine, principles of surgery, toxicology, ENT, botany and pharmacology.

To take admission in BAMS, students have to pass 10+2 class Physics, Chemistry, Biology with good marks.
Students must appear in various national and state level entrance exams like: KLEU AIET-KLE UNIVERSITY, AP EAMCET- Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agriculture, and Medical Common Entrance Test, Assam CEE – Assam Combined Entrance Examination, TS EAMCET-Telangana Engineering, Agriculture, and Medical Common Entrance Test.
The selection of the students is based on the final merit as will be on the total number of marks obtained in the qualifying examination as 12th and the number recorded in the entrance examinations.
